At Taal Lokaal West, you can start at one of two beginner levels. On this page, you’ll find all the details for both courses.

Dutch Beginners Level 1 (A1)

This course is for complete beginners or those with only limited experience with Dutch. Learn to speak and understand everyday Dutch, no experience needed!

Start: March 2, 2026

Schedule: Mon & Wed 18.00–19.45 (7 weeks).

Week 7: Saturday afternoon excursion, followed by a festive wrap-up with food and drinks at our Language Café.

Learning Goals:

Introduce yourself and others
Ask and answer basic questions (name, nationality, job, hobbies)
Order food and drinks in cafés
Understand simple instructions and directions
Talk about your daily routine using basic present tense

Location: Taal Lokaal, Oostzaanstraat 28, Amsterdam West

Course book: Nederlands in Gang, to be ordered separately by the course participant.

Certificate: The written final exam takes place at the end of the course. All course participants who attended at least 75% of the course will receive a certificate of attendance.

Course fee: €495 (early bird until February 15), normally €549

Dutch Beginners Level 2 (A2)

You can already speak in past tense, read longer texts, use adjectives, make suggestions and express opinions. Build confidence and grow your vocabulary for daily life and work.
